Welcome to the website of the Learning and Metacognition Experimental Lab!

LaMELab is led by Katarzyna Zawadzka and Maciej Hanczakowski. Our research is concerned with memory and metacognition. We use methods from cognitive psychology to investigate what strategies people use to learn new information and later retrieve it, how learning and retrieval interact, and how accurate people's insight into their own memory processes is. We are also interested in external factors that affect memory and metacognition, such as being in the company of other people or in a distracting environment.
